JOHN METCALF

Attorney Metcalf was previously in the U.S. Navy for 6 years of active duty as an Electronic Technician and says he would do it over again. After his separation of duty with an Honorable Discharge he was a student, then small business owner, a CPA (now inactive) in both Texas and N.C. with two "Big Six" accounting firms (Arthur Andersen, Ernst & Young/EY). Mr. Metcalf earned his undergraduate degree in Accounting, receiving his B.S. from University of Houston - Clear Lake. For his legal training he was accepted into, and is a proud graduate of, University of Florida Levin College of Law (04), and had two children while attending law school (Gator Babies) and a third after he started practicing law. Mr. Metcalf has joined the esteemed Brionez + Brionez Law Firm as an experienced attorney/counselor/litigator and is pleased to be back in Lake County. John Metcalf and Brionez + Brionez can assist you in navigating disputes in a pragmatic manner, advising you on what to expect at each step (fewer surprises) and keeping you informed so you are able to make the best decisions with the best information available. John takes on the burden of your matter so that you know your case is being addressed the right way, the efficient way, and avoiding legal traps for the unwary.

Litigation can be complicated; it is often costly and can negatively impact businesses and individuals alike. As a litigator, John Metcalf can intervene to mitigate the impact of litigation through effective management of the dispute, appropriate advocacy, and timely, efficient resolution of the claim. In civil litigation all cases must be prepared from the beginning as if they are going to trial. Most cases will settle before trial, but all matters are entered with an eye toward litigation. Preparedness is essential as having command of the facts and the law applied to them makes settling the matter that much more probable. If an early settlement is warranted, all the better. When mediation is ordered by the Court (it always is), Mr. Metcalf will ensure you know the strengths - and weaknesses - of your case. There are times when both parties legitimately see the same set of facts differently, with each believing they are right under the law. That is the type of case that is more likely to require trial to end the dispute.
